KTLA Education Chair Russ Hazlewood developed a KTLA Trial Academy that will be hosted at the KU Law School on August 4-5, 2018.  This session is expected to be the first of a three-part series, the completion of which will result in a certification of completion.  The KTLA Trial Academy brings together a prestigious faculty panel (see below) with practicing attorney students wanting to advance and/or refresh their trial skills.

The students will be given case materials developed by NITA (the National Institute for Trial Advocacy).  These include simulated case folders for each side of a litigation matter.  After a short lecture, the students will break out into rooms with faculty members to participate in drills where they will be challenged to take direct examination of witnesses and cross-examine witnesses in a controlled environment.  Students will be challenged to lay a foundation for and introduce exhibits; make and defend objections; establish key facts; and develop an understanding of courtroom logistics.  Faculty will give immediate feedback and advice.

Space in the program is limited, and admission will be based on a first-come, first-served bases.  If you would like to nominate a fellow attorney, contact KTLA at info@ktla.org.
