Practice Sections & Listserves
KTLA's practice sections and listserves allow members to collaborate with other attorneys of like mind. On the listserves, members exchange ideas and information quickly and conveniently online. Members are encouraged to join one or more of the sections and listserves available to them at no additional cost.
Application and Participation Agreement
Published bimonthly since 1977, the Journal of the Kansas Association for Justice is KTLA's flagship publication. The Journal features articles with commentary and analysis on recent case law, statutory changes, and the practice of law. Annual subscription is included with KTLA membership. KTLA's weekly Legislative Update keeps members apprised of legislative developments during each new session.
Advocacy in the Courts
Our Amicus Curiae Committee seeks to protect the rights of families, consumers and workers. The committee, formed of learned, volunteer members, files briefs in state and federal appellate courts supporting access to justice and fair legal process.
Advocacy in the Statehouse
KTLA is a recognized nonpartisan advocacy resource on civil justice and workers compensation issues. KTLA testifies on bills affecting members’ clients and practices and seeks to educate legislators about the importance of a strong and balanced system of law. KTLA supports access to courts, a level playing field, and preservation of the right to trial by jury. KTLA keeps members informed of legislation that will affect their clients and their practices.
Continuing Legal Education
KTLA coordinates specialized CLE sessions designed to hone an attorney’s critical skills and legal competencies, often featuring nationally acclaimed speakers and cutting-edge seminar topics. CLE sessions are available to KTLA members at preferred rates and in some cases, limited exclusively to plaintiffs’ attorneys.
Collegiality is a tradition at KTLA. Our members are connected to the largest network of litigators in the state. Leadership events, CLE seminars, sections and listservs are all great resources to KTLA members in all types of practice areas and expertise.
Members of KTLA enjoy discounted use of the event space at headquarters, located in the beautifully restored Fire Station No. 2, just steps from the Statehouse in Topeka.
